Before Nyambura died, she never at any given time complained of assault by her husband, Ngugi wa Thiongo. Instead, in an interview with the Standard newspaper in 1992 in Kenya while Ngugi wa Thion’go remained in exile, she said; “Ngugi is not only a loving husband but a very responsible father and I really miss him”. Her interview contradicts all what her son Mukoma wa Ngugi says about Ngugi wa Thiongo.

In a swift turn of events, Aljazeera withdrew the article it had published after the alleged allegations turned out to be fabricated (hot air) lies that the son could not prove to the newspaper.

The Diaspora Times also further investigated the matter, using interviews that the late wife of Ngugi wa Thion’go gave to the standard newspapers. We concluded that the allegations were possibly due to some disagreements the son had with his father.
