A young and determined Kenyan, Xo-Shay Nderi, is rising for Autism Awareness and Research—and she needs your vote.
The Kenyan community has always shown up when one of our own rises to serve a greater cause. Today, that moment calls again.
Xo-Shay Nderi, proudly representing USOA Miss Cobb County, is seeking the support of the Kenyan diaspora as she competes for the People’s Choice Award and not for personal glory, but to become a powerful ambassador for Autism Awareness and Education.
A portion of the proceeds from this competition will be donated to the Organization for Autism Research, a globally respected institution advancing scientific research, early intervention strategies, and evidence-based support for individuals on the autism spectrum.
Xo-Shay’s advocacy is profoundly personal and purpose-driven. While many autism programs focus on early childhood, she highlights a critical gap often ignored, the “outgrown” children, ages 8 to 18, who are frequently left without adequate spaces to exist as themselves once early intervention ends. Her vision is bold yet compassionate: a future where these children have safe, affirming facilities that support both their emotional and practical needs.
She believes that research is the foundation of dignity, and that breakthroughs in modern medicine and intervention techniques can change lives, not in theory, but in real homes, real schools, and real communities.
Her dream is to become a nationwide practitioner specializing in the “outgrown.” Most centers focus on early intervention, after which children are often transitioned to schools and/or home-based therapy. However, children aged 8 to 18 need dedicated facilities where they can simply be themselves. She strive to advocate for both their emotional well-being and their practical needs. That is why research is such an essential step and a strong foundation for the future.
The People’s Choice Award is determined by votes.
Multiple votes are allowed, and every vote strengthens her voice and this mission.
