Fyona is an 19 years old girl, she got her 1st kidney transplant from her father Walter Njoroge Kabitta at age 7 years in 2011. Her 2nd kidney transplant was in 2020 after the 1st one failed in 2018. Her mother was overwhelmed by her daughters illness and passed away suddenly in February 2019. The 2nd kidney also failed in Jan 2022. She travelled back to India in March 2022, efforts to save the 2nd kidney were futile and the same was removed in June 2022.   Her 3rd kidney transplant has now been booked for 8/1/2024 after the family could not raise funds to have the transplant done on 28/11/2023.

Fyona travelled to India in March 2022 under NHIF, EDU AFYA SCHEME, all her hospital bills including the operation were supposed to be paid by her NHIF Edu Afya Scheme but it lapsed midstream leaving them stranded in India even as running, logistics and living expenses escalate besides the eventual but costly post operation lifetime medicines.
In the circumstances/fundraising shortfall she sadly missed planned operation dates 28/07/2023 and 28/12/2023

It is for this reason that the family is appealing to well-wishers to kindly support Fyona Wanjiku, so that her 3rd kidney transplant can take place on 8th January 2024 after which she will be able to travel back to Kenya accompanied by her father.
